The female factor is becoming more and more relevant in the sports scene, and the Santa Eulària Ibiza Marathon is a clear example of this. The Ibizan event has already surpassed 45% of women among the participants in the seventh edition, which will be held on April 13. To date, the organisers have registered more than 4,000 registrations for the three distances: marathon, 22K and 12K, with a new growth in female participation that already exceeds the figure reached in 2023 by more than two points.

With all this, the Santa Eulària Ibiza Marathon has positioned itself as a benchmark event for female athletes, as it is one of the events on the national popular athletics calendar with the highest percentage of female participants, increasingly closer to the expected 50/50, with which to equal the number of male participants. The intermediate distance of 22 kilometres is the one that registers the highest increase of female participants.

The interest shown in the Balearic race confirms an upward trend in the sporting panorama, with a growing presence of women in all kinds of specialities. In the particular case of the Santa Eulària Ibiza Marathon, it is worth highlighting the work undertaken both by the organisers and by different groups to reinforce female participation, which not only comes from Spain, but also includes runners from the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Netherlands and Germany, among others.

Likewise, the concept on which the event has been developed, which offers much more than participation in each of the programmed races, has contributed to consolidate this event as a key moment of the year to deseasonalise tourism on the island.
