In its eagerness to promote the values of sport, Trasmed has become an essential collaborator of some of the most important sporting events taking place in the Balearic Islands in 2023.
A commitment to sport which, in the words of the director of Institutional Relations of the Spanish shipping company of the Grimaldi Group, Miguel Pardo, is a key seasonal element for the islands. “We are delighted to collaborate in the organisation of events that allow us to deseasonalise tourism, with visitors who are attracted not only by the sport, but also by the setting in which the events are held,” said Miguel Pardo.
One of the most important events on the national and international running calendar is the Santa Eulària Ibiza Marathon. This sporting event will be held for the sixth time on the island of Ibiza and Formentera on the 1st of April. It is a race of three distances that is the perfect way to kick off the running season: marathon, 22K and 12K.
As opposed to a fast 22K and 12K, the marathon has a demanding circuit that requires runners to give their best from the start, in the Port of Ibiza, to the finish line in Santa Eulària des Riu. The challenge of the course does not lie in the accumulated elevation gain, but rather in the continuous undulations of the terrain that keep the athlete’s attention throughout the 42,195 metres of a circuit approved by the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation.
The Santa Eulària Ibiza Marathon will also become one of the events on the national calendar with the most followers on social networks, largely due to the relevant profiles of those who will take part in the island event.
Elite athletes, international references and creators of content about the world of running will become the protagonists of the event, while allowing people from all over the world not only to follow the competition strictly speaking, but also to observe the passage through the different natural landscapes that will encompass its three distances.
The director of Institutional Relations of Trasmed has affirmed that “it is difficult to know if it is the most beautiful marathon in the world, but we think it is. In addition, it is accompanied by two other races so that everyone can enjoy the experience, the 22K and the 12K. That’s why we are so happy to be the official carrier of the race, for the runners, their friends and family, so that they can fully enjoy their stay in Ibiza and get to know this wonderful island”.
Manuel Casanova, managing partner of Talentum Group, promoter of the Santa Eulària Ibiza Marathon, remarked that “we are very happy to have the support of Trasmed for the most important sporting event on the island. With this collaboration we hope that many people who want to come to run can do so with the shipping company and, in turn, have the facilities offered by Trasmed to do so.
“In short, with this agreement we intend to have more accessibility thanks to the connections offered by the company to reach as many runners as possible. And, in addition, this way of travelling allows the runners to come with their own vehicle, which is an added value”, he concludes.
