It is known as the Magical Island and it has become an alternative choice for quality tourism. The high nature value of both the rural and coastal areas of Ibiza and its rich cultural heritage are now topped up with a growing range of culinary and leisure activities -among others- and the new sports potential that the island has recently developed.
That is why it is not surprising that Ibiza ranks in top positions in the market studies that tourist organizations conduct year after year. For example, the reference booking website Tripadvisor has chosen Ibiza as one of the ten best Spanish destinations for 2017. Similarly, the travel website Expedia has chosen this island as one of the six favourite choices for the summer season in Spain, which is of particular interest to tourists from the United Kingdom, Italy, the United States, Germany, Ireland and Canada.
In addition, tourism in Ibiza has been evolving and it is becoming less seasonal: more and more people choose to visit the island in seasons other than summer. This is mainly due to the new initiatives that are emerging throughout the year and not only in the summer. Among these initiatives, the #RunAndFeel movement has been promoted by the organizers of Ibiza Marathon and Ibiza 12K, two races that are a new attraction for tourists willing to visit the island in April and enjoy a comprehensive experience over a whole weekend.
This way, Ibiza will be included in travel plans 365 days a year. It is not a secret that most tourists visit the island when they are on holidays, which is mainly from June to September. However, some of them cannot resist it and they go back in other seasons when this earthly paradise still shines with its own light. So we have good reasons to argue that what we said at the beginning of the article is true: ‘it is a destination that will not fail to impress’.
