  • More than 400 children between the ages of 4 and 12 took part in the Santa Eulària Ibiza Marathon race for the youngest runners.
  • The three great distances of the sporting event (marathon, 22K and 12K) will begin in the afternoon.
  • The morning of sport began with the solidarity race with the participation of children from the APNEEF association.

The Santa Eulària Ibiza Marathon continues to complete its event with participation options for everyone. Proof of this is the race for the little ones that took place today on the Santa Eulària des Riu promenade: the Santa Eulària Ibiza Kids Run CaixaBank. The future runners had the chance to enjoy an event that continues to grow in all aspects. At 10:00 in the morning, more than 400 children between the ages of 4 and 12 ran different distances for different ages, enjoying a morning of sport thanks to the collaboration of the bank CaixaBank.

The Mayoress of Santa Eulària des Riu Carmen Ferrer and Gaëlle Le Dour, Director of the Caixabank Financial Services Centre in Ibiza, welcomed fifty children with a lot of #RunAndFeel spirit who crossed the Kids finish line with the dream of one day being able to run the great sporting event of the island.

Registration for this event was free of charge as, according to the organisers, “it is a good way of instilling sport and a healthy lifestyle from an early age”. In addition, the race, in a non-competitive format, with everyone wearing a number 1 bib, has rewarded all participants with a medal and various gifts given by the organizers, as well as a refreshment station available to all participants on arrival at the finish line.

A solidarity race

In addition, moments before the start of the Santa Eulària Ibiza Kids Run Caixabank, the charity race was held in collaboration with APNEEF (Association of People with Special Needs of Eivissa and Formentera), the charity of the Santa Eulària Ibiza Marathon. At 9:30 am, more than 15 children of different ages belonging to the NGO ran the first 200 metres of the 12K race, passing through the starting arch and receiving the finisher’s medal from the mayoress of Santa Eulària, Carmen Ferrer, and Alba Pau, promoter of APNEEF and member of the Pacha Foundation. In addition, all those registered were able to collaborate with APNEEF by donating €2 at the time of registration, as well as the economic contribution donated by the organisation to help the charity initiatives of this foundation.

The Santa Eulària Ibiza Marathon was thus inaugurated, with two races that filled the streets of Ibiza with sport, excitement and fun for children and young people. The big races of the sporting event (individual and relay marathon, 22K and 12K) will take place in the afternoon on Saturday the 9th of April.
